Artist Statement

The images included in this site represent a minor portion of my current creative works. My background in computer graphics began several years ago when I took interest as a student at Modesto Junior College in a Basic PhotoShop class. Photography has always been an interest of mine so I began to take photography courses as well. Since then I’ve expanded to InDesign, Illustrator, Digital Photography as well as Photoshop.  Within this site you will also find an expression of my creativity.  My digital works reflects current class assignments as well as personal works.

You will also find works from past photo shoots. These works captured the emotion of the setting at the time. My photographic digital images are original images. They are photographs that have been taken with a standard SLR camera or digital camera and have been further developed in Photoshop. The computer as a fine arts tool allows great flexibility in creating varied images, which I’ve enjoyed experimenting with.

In Spring of ’07 I entered into the Celebration of the Humanities contest.  If it wasn’t for the encouragement of Professors Joel Hagen and Tom Duchscher I would not have placed first in the Digital Photography category.  The surprise was unbelievable and joy unexplainable.  Being recognized for what I have created and designed has brought great confidence in my abilities.

Currently, I work full time in the Arts, Humanities & Communications division at Modesto Junior College and I am a student studying in computer graphics.

My desire is to expand my knowledge working in such computer graphic programs as well as continuing with an interest in photography.  My goal is to obtain a Computer Graphics Degree in Spring of '08. Thus, this is truly my Artist’s Statement.
