Scholarly Journal Articles (5.7.1-5.7.4)

Basic Format:

Author Last name, First Name. "Title of Article."
Journal Title Volume Number (year of publication): inclusive page numbers.

If no author's name is given for the article(s) you cite, begin your entry with the article title, ignoring any initial A, An, or The when you alphabetize the entry.

Continuous pagination through-out annual volume:
Mullen, Laura Bowering and Karen A. Hartman.
"Google Scholar and the Library Web Site: The Early Response by ARL Libraries." College & Research Libraries 67(2006): 106-122.
Each issue begins on page 1:
Andrews, Jennifer. "Living History: A conversation
with Kimberly Blaeser." Studies in American Indian Literatures 19.2(2007): 1-21.
Uses only issue numbers; no volume numbers:
Brown, Rafe M. and Juan Carlos Gonzalez. "A New

Magazines Articles (5.7.6)

Basic Format:

Author Last name, First Name. "Title of Article."

Magazine Title Day Month Year of Publication: page numbers or initial page+.

Do not cite volume and issue numbers even if they are given.

If no author's name is given for the article(s) you cite, begin your entry with the article title, ignoring any initial A, An, or The when you alphabetize the entry.

Weekly or Biweekly article printed on consecutive pages:
Elegant, Simon. "China's Me Generation: The New

Middle Class is Young, Rich and Happy. Just Don't Mention Politics." Time 5 Nov. 2007: 47-51.

If the article is not printed on consecutive pages, write only the first page number and a plus sign.

Monthly or Bimonthly article printed on consecutive pages:
Foer, Joshua. "Remember This In the Archives of the

Brain, Our Lives Linger or Disappear." National Geographic Nov. 2007: 32-55.

If the article is not printed on consecutive pages, write only the first page number and a plus sign.

Newspaper Articles (5.7.5)

Basic Format:

Author Last name, First Name. "Title of Article."

Title of Newspaper [City of Publication if it is a local paper and the city is not in the title] Day Month Year of Publication, edition if edition name is given in the masthead: page numbers or initial page+ if not consecutive.

Do not cite volume and issue numbers even if they are given.

If no author's name is given for the article(s) you cite, begin your entry with the article title, ignoring any initial A, An, or The when you alphabetize the entry.

Article printed on consecutive pages:
Ahumada, Rosalio. "Man Dies After Daylight Shooting
