What
is a telecourse?
Telecourses
are one method for taking off-campus classes.
They use pre-taped instructional lessons with a textbook, study
guide, syllabus, exams and interactions between the student and
instructor through informal group discussions and telephone or
personal contact.
Where
do I find telecourses listed?
Telecourses
are listed in the MJC Schedule of Classes.
Will
I get college credit for taking a telecourse?
All
telecourses carry full college credit which may be applied to
MJC graduation, and courses are usually transferable to four-year
institutions.
How
much do telecourses cost?
All
telecourses are part of the MJC curriculum and are subject to
the fees listed in the class schedule. In addition to MJC fees,
you will need to purchase one or more textbooks for your course
and these costs vary.
Where
are telecourses broadcast?
You
view telecourses on television, usually on video tapes.
Telecourses
are not available via satellite dish.
If
you have high speed Internet, DSL, or cable connections you can
view your telecourse broadcasts on the MJC Web site <http://gomjc.org/mjcvideo>.

Charter
Cable Channel 15 broadcasts the History 101, History 102, and
Math 50 telecourses to residents of Ceres, Escalon, Hughson, Modesto
(South), Riverbank, Salida, and Turlock.
What
if I can't get the Telecourse Broadcast?
If
you cannot receive telecourse broadcasts at your home, you may
view the programs at the MJC Library. To view programs in the
library visit the MJC Library Reserve Desk. Their phone number

To check out video tapes to view at your home visit the
MJC Media Services office in the Classroom Annex Building on East
Campus. Media Services phone number is 209-575-6100.
Are
there on-campus class meetings?
Most
telecourses have several mandatory meetings on campus. Check the
class schedule, the information packet that will be mailed to
enrolled students, or call the Telecourse Office at 209-575-6236.
